Live Alive is an essential Blues double album compiled from four live performances by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. The performances were recorded with Stevie Ray's band Double Trouble: Tommy Shannon (bass), Chris 'Whipper' Layton (drums) and Reese Wynans (keyboards, organ) at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Austin Opera House and at Dallas Starfest, along with some studio overdubs.
The song selection for Live Alive displays many of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s biggest influences: Jimi Hendrix ("Voodoo Child (Slight Return)"), Stevie Wonder ("Superstition"), Howlin' Wolf ("Commit A Crime") and Buddy Guy ("Mary Had a Little Lamb"). It's also the only live album that was released during Stevie Ray's lifetime. Live Alive shows the legendary guitarist at his peak, and cemented his legacy as a live performer.
Live Alive is available as a limited edition of 2500 individually numbered copies on orange vinyl.
