The story of iMusti began with a group of music aficionados deciding one day that quality music should be available to anyone who is interested. We’ve all watched as Indian music took the world by storm in the last decade, with bhangra, Indipop, Bollywood songs and remixes being played in houses and clubs around the globe; Indian bhajans and mantras are listened to whether the language is familiar or not. Music truly does transcend all barriers, and so, in our attempt to break down the smaller but no less important barriers of accessibility and usability, we’ve created iMusti.com.

iMusti.com allows users to access one of the largest collections of music online. It aims at people of all ages, and in all countries. Anyone with an interest in the Indian music scene, old or new, can come in and have a look around the site, and register with us to start using it. We want to make it easy for entire families, from grandparents to grandchildren, to use our site to find the music they love, and to take pleasure in its pure sound quality. Also, because we want to make it more convenient for our users, iMusti.com will soon be accessible on cell phones that are GPRS-enabled.

We conducted extensive surveys to find out what users want from their music platforms, and found that most musical devices and sites are tedious to manage, whether it means uploading music, programming them to play as you want, or just managing the music that is already on them. So iMusti went ahead and set up a team of developers to work out features and programming tools that make the site very easy to use. Our enthusiastic business head then went personally to the biggest record labels for Indian music and persuaded them to allow iMusti.com to store and play their music. And so it happens that we now have some of the biggest recording labels in our kitty.

And the rest is history! The site came together quickly because everyone involved in the creation is motivated and enthusiastic, and we now proudly present iMusti.com to the world. We’ve come a long way, but we have so much further to go, so much more we want to do to bring the beat of India to faraway corners of the globe; it’s just the beginning for us.
